Poetry and Art
I love both visual and poetic art. Here is my attempt of joining the two together.
The ocean reminds me so much of God’s love. Being at the beach has always felt like a tangible way to feel God’s love. The wind in your hair, the sand rubbing your toes, the sounds of the waves breaking, and the smell of the salt in the air. It’s always an experience that fills my weary, tired soul after long days of labor and toil. Here is a painting that reminds me of the waves of the ocean, and a poem about the ocean of God’s love. I hope both immerse you in the love of the Savior.
Ocean of Love
I find myself in these waters
Moving about in your strength
Speaking to these pages with your voice
And finding myself all over again
The strength of the waves
The movement of your heart
The voice of your song
Rested I am in your love.

How to Make an Art Accordion Journal
I recently folded up some paper like an accordion and made it into an artwork! I’ve seen this idea floating around the internet. Here is how I did it:
Step one
I took Bristol paper and cut it longways. I used art tape (masking tape also works) to tape both ends together on both sides. See picture below:
Step Two
Fold the Bristol paper like an accordion. I folded mine in half to first, and then in half again and one more time to make sure the folds were the same length. Then, I started adding paint, colors, and textures!
Step Three
Keep building up those layers! Every so often and in between paint layers, refold the paper so it doesn’t lose it’s shape.
Step Four
Finish your design on the front, and then start your design on the back! The great thing about this is, you can have artwork on both sides! I decided to hang mine up with clips on my bulletin board to add some beauty to my studio!
The most important thing to remember to is to have fun! Doing creative projects like this is very therapeutic :)
