The Creative Process
The creative process reminds me of the ebb and flow of the ocean. Sometimes the waves are calm and other times they are very big and wild. When I’m not feeling very creative, I like to use that space to be inspired by other artists and let their work speak to me. Other times, I feel so creative and have so much energy that I don’t have the capacity to get it all out (wild, big waves). When that happens, I write down what I’m thinking and put it into paint on the canvas later. These journal notes help me remove creative blocks down the road when I’m looking for more creative gas to get me going. You might want to apply this artist tip to your own creative process. All in all, it’s beautiful dance and I’m so thankful you are a part of it!
Purpose and Painting
I spend a long time on each painting. I take hours at a time to paint, and then I look at a painting over the course of several days until I am satisfied with its output. I am always conscious of what a painting is speaking. I desire my paintings to give you a lift in your mood and spirit! We can all use a boost at times. When you come into a room and see my painting hanging, the vibrant colors should immediately infect you with joy and hope. This is my intention as an artist. Exploring the language of color has been quite an adventure for me and I’m happy to have you along for the ride!
